Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 12:07AM Hey Good Lookin', a Hank Williams Bio-Pic is Cookin'
The legendary Hank Williams will be the subject of a new bio-pic courtesy of the same outfit that is trying to make another famed country star a multimedia franchise. 821 Entertainment, which previously announced plans to do all sorts of things with the likeness and character of Roy Rogers, will develop than Hank Sr. story.

CEO Eric Geadelmann tells Variety, "It took us almost five years to execute this deal, and people told us we were crazy to try because the estate was so fractured." That's a reference to one of the most famous family feuds in music, a perpetual pissing match between Hank Jr. and Senior's daughter Jett that has likely kept one of the most influential singers and songwriters of the 20th century out of a nostalgic spotlight dominated by the likes of the Elvis Presley estate.
Williams' life was as brief as his impact was enormous. Dead at 29 from what was likely an overdose of B12 and morhphine, Williams' mysterious demise has been a popular subject in country music for half a century, but not as popular as his sound. From AllMusic.com:

"He established the rules for all the country performers who followed him and, in the process, much of popular music. Hank wrote a body of songs that became popular classics, and his direct, emotional lyrics and vocals became the standard for most popular performers. He lived a life as troubled and reckless as that depicted in his songs."One wonders what version of the singer's death would be visited in the movie. Good role for a young actor, too.

Paul Schrader wrote a very good script called "Eight Scenes From The Life Of Hank Williams" a long time ago. I hope they use it... Christian Bale again?
Once in a while TCM shows a Hank Williams biopic that stars George Hamilton of all people. It's a bit corny but isn't too bad.
I hate to say it but Zafron? Effron is still a bit young for it but hes musical tested and supposedly wants to branch out from just that to do some more serious dramas, this might make a nice bridge if he actually has the acting chops to pull it off...
Outside of being too pretty, which he is for everything, Zafron makes some sense in the spitball stage. Can't argue with the screen presence. The good news with Hank Williams is, even though he died at 29, he looked like he was in his early 40s. That could broaden the search tremendously.
id rather see judi dench play him then sac efron
lol haha ummm nice comment , I AGREE
I'm telling you. It's Christian Bale.
I was never really supporting the Zafron idea but I wouldn't be surprised to see him get it. I don't know if he would blow it or not and I think it would be interesting to see. As far as the age thing and his prettiness, Brad Pitt just played 90-18 and Charlize Theron was a monster.
I do agree that the Christian Bale idea isn't a bad one, he kind of looks like Hank Williams to be honest but I think there is a minor Bale fallout going on and who knows when Bat3 will start and he'll have to suit up again.
