Carey Mulligan Rounds Out 'Wall Street 2' Cast

The principal cast is now complete for Oliver Stone's Money Never Sleeps aka Wall Street 2. Michael Douglas, of course, was key to getting this show on the road. Then came Shia LaBeouf not playing Gordon Gekko's son but essentially carrying the Charlie Sheen role. Javier Bardem was involved as the new villain, dropped out, and was replaced by Josh Brolin. Frank Langella was announced last week, portraying a mentor to LaBeouf. But there was always one crucial role left open. The catalyst for the relationship between Douglas and LaBeouf is Gordon Gekko's estranged daughter, engaged to LaBeouf's young stock broker. And it's been announced that Carey Mulligan has grabbed the primary female role in the male-dominated cast. Wait...who? Mulligan, 24, is a British actress who hasn't yet come into the public consciousness in the U.S. She has a small part in Public Enemies and can be seen in James Sheridan's Brothers later this year. However, most people who have seen An Education point to that film as her breakout. You can see that in limited release beginning in October. She's been linked to Money Never Sleeps for a while, but it's finally been confirmed and Stone now has all his major players. Good thing, too: Filming is said to begin fairly soon, and just as we hinted it should earlier this summer, the former release date of mid-February has been pushed back to late April. Timing is key, and while this film would have a bigger impact a year ago because of the economy, there's also the chance that people would have avoided a movie about corporate greed. Stone at least now has time to finish the film at his usual pace and get it into theaters before summer blockbusters come and devoure everything in their path.
