Video - Brad Pitt on 'Real Time with Bill Maher'

Though you won't get much movie talk about Inglourious Basterds, which opens next Friday, Brad Pitt was a guest on Real Time with Bill Maher this weekend. Sporting a shaggy new goatee, Pitt talked about his philanthropic and humanitarian efforts in New Orleans, as well as his love of architecture, which he tried - in vain - to explain to the host. And then we got into topics you rarely see a star of Pitt's magnitude ever address, especially at length. Picking up where a Today show interview left off this week, Maher asked Pitt about his quickly assembled platform if he were to run for Mayor of New Orleans, which has become a popular grass roots movement in the Big Easy. Saying he would run with a message of "no religion, legalization and taxation of pot, and pro-gay marriage," Pitt laughed off public office by saying he would have zero chance of winning. Maher, whose documentary Religulous was a sizable hit last fall, took the opportunity to discussion religion and Pitt's lack thereof before turning the page into a more humorous set of questions about recreational drugs. There was a time, I think, that Pitt was shy about granting interviews. He's still not as smooth as his friend Mr. Clooney, but I think he's a lot more comfortable. Of course, Pitt still chooses his venues pretty carefully; I don't think we'll see him on Carson Daly anytime soon.
