Michael Bay's True Calling: Victoria's Secret Ads

No matter what you think of Michael Bay in general or Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen specifically, you've got to admit he has an eye for beauty. Depth of character? Maybe not. Everything on the surface? Definitely. So it's a perfect fit for Bay to lend his particular talents to Victoria's Secret, which I guess now wants to drape its lingerie models with gargantuan explosions and lame soundtracks. Bay was hired to shoot a new series of ads, presumably for the fall lingerie line. Really? Does it change that much between spring and fall? Would anyone look at what Alessanda Ambrosio is almost wearing and think it looks so 2006? He posted some photos from the shoot on his website today and what stands out to me is how bereft of creativity all of this looks. Bay, as you probably know, did commercials before he broke into the movies. He's best known for the old Aaron Burr Got Milk? commercial, which is actually fantastic. And here's a surprise: He did some shooting in the desert. Wow, he's breaking new ground for himself there. Anyway, enjoy the scantily clad women...

What you fail to realize is that Bay was not just working up new ads for Victoria's Secret. Rather, he was scouting for new car washers and eye candy for Transformers 3: More That You Despise.
