Peter Berg Rehashing Ideas for 'Hancock' Sequel

Although it was not the best film last summer, Hancock made a ton of money based on little more than being a Will Smith vehicle. Almost immediately, a sequel was proposed, and Smith and director Peter Berg are pretty high on the idea. But what's the idea? "There might be another god out there," Berg hinted in an interview with SciFi Wire. "Might be another one." Wait a minute...isn't that more or less the same story from the first one? Will Smith played a god whose powers were diminished only when he was in close proximity to the only other god, played Charlize Theron, right? So what's different? Apparently with three gods, it's one louder. No offense to Berg, whose work I actually enjoyed pretty consistently until Hancock, which was simply too big a movie for its own story, but that doesn't sound like a good enough reason to see or make the sequel - "What if we just go get another god on top of the first two?" But Berg seems pretty determined to get back to the superhero franchise, and so is the studio, apparently. "They like to fast-track it, but Will's busy, I'm pretty busy," Berg conceded. "We're excited to do one, but we want the script to be right and the movie to be right. We don't feel a burning imperative to go right back into it." That makes two of us. If not more.

this movie sucked. it only made money cuz of will smith. i didn't even know he was a god until i read articles about the sequel. i knew he was immortal but a god. they def. didn't clear that up. will smith is the most overrated actor ever.

overrated? I'd have to disagree with that sorry. I think he has the charm and charisma and can cross borders. You can't teach what he's got.

If Charlize didn't return to the sequel i wouldn't be heartbroken. To be honest the first movie was very good in my opinion....until the parts where we found out Charlize was a god, then the movie really went downhill. So if the new movie focuses more on Will Smith then the two of them together it would be a lot better, but dont know if they really can do the new movie without her, which is unfortunate.
