Portman, Kunis Get Freaky in 'Black Swan'

We'll see how it plays out on film, but at least on paper, there's a whole new reason for fanboys to love ballet. In the screenplay review for Black Swan, the new Darren Aronofsky film about a ballerina's struggle with a rival that may or may not exist, Script Shadow's Carson Reeves reveals that Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis will have sex.

There are, of course, several kinds of sex scenes in movies. But this one, according to the review, is "not just nice sweet innocent sex either. We're talking ecstasy-induced hungry aggressive angry sex." Ponder that visual for a while...

Of course, because there are all sorts of ways to handle sex in film, you might think Aronofsky would downplay the scene, especially if it doesn't service the story. I'd counter by saying Jennifer Connelly's most desperate act in Requiem for a Dream was a little gratuitous, so he's clearly not above pulling the trigger on something like this. I mean, he's not Zalman King of The Red Shoe Diaries, but it's not beyond him. Portman, though, was not a fan of her revealed skin in Hotel Chevalier, the short film that accompanied Wes Anderson's The Darjeeling Limited, so we'll see how that plays out.

As for the rest of the script, the news is not so good, at least according to Reeves. He did admit liking it, but adds, "after awhile, it really begins to test your patience." Hint: It's slow.

You can read the rest of the review, which is chock full o' spoilers, over at Script Shadow. Black Swan has leapfrogged RoboCop on Aronofsky's to-do list, and he plans to shoot it this fall in New York. Fox Searchlight is penciled in as a potential distributor late next year.

This is pathetic. I grow weary of lowest common denominator Idiocracy crap.

We should just openly admit pedophile worship. I mean come on, both these women are famous first and foremost for looking like children while being legally bedable. I mean come on, the uncut version of Leon could have easily turned into Lolita.

We are a nation of closet serial killers and pedophiles. Recent cases in point, Jennifer's body and Sorority Row, and look at the popularity of Hostel and Saw. Then there are movies like Hard Candy which is clearly torture porn closeted pedophile projection guilt.

We had a countdown to the olsen twins being legal, we have Hanna Montana doing nudes and pole dancing. We have mega adult hot Megan fox playing a highschool girl...three times.

Now if we can just get a film were bisexual teenagers played by barely legal super models torture nazi aliens in-between steamy cosplay erololi sex scenes, it'd be the next gone with the wind.

Crap like this doesn't deserve existence, much less coverage.

I feel bad for the actual film makers, the people that are actually interested in the art, this coupling is going to ruin the movie, it will utterly dominate for attention. funny how when two straight girls make out at a bar its clearly obnoxious but when its movie stars its suddenly art.

The whole county needs to go rub one out and grow up.

Lighten up.

The argument that we're a society off the rails because of tendencies in our popular culture is inconsistent with Jack the Ripper, the Bible, Caligula, the Holocaust, and any host of historical examples. Guess what: People have done crazy shit as long as there have been people. The logic is also inconsitent with literature of the past 2,000 years or more, counting Shakespeare, D.H. Lawrence, and the Kama Sutra, among others.

Natalie Portman, I would argue, is famous because as a child she displayed more maturity and depth than her age suggested. I'm sure there was some of that pedophilia instinct; it's not she suddenly developed those genetics once she turned 18. Now, I would say, she's widely regarded for her intelligence and acting ability, not because you think she looks like a teenager. Should she have waited until she graduated college to go into acting?

What kind of line are you trying to draw? Oh wait, that's right, it's the "Crap like this doesn't deserve existence" line that you just made up. How far does that extend, anyway? Megan Fox can't play a high school girl because she's 21 at the time of Transformers and preternaturally attractive? Only the doughy can play anyone around the age of 18? So Michael J. Fox shouldn't have played Alex Keaton on Family Ties? Or is he not hot enough to make the cut?

Natalie Portman's almost 30. She can do a lesbian scene if she wants to. Nobody's holding a gun to her head, and nobody's calling it art. It's titillation and there's nothing whatsoever wrong with that.

Colin, when you first posted this I joked that the characters should resolve their differences in a kiddie pool full of KY Jelly. I was joking, but looks like I may get my wish.

@Colin

"Guess what: People have done crazy shit as long as there have been people. "

So thats makes it ok to continue? Jack the ripper you say?

"Jack the Ripper excused himself on the grounds that what he did was human nature" -A.A. Milne

"Natalie Portman, I would argue, is famous because as a child she displayed more maturity and depth than her age suggested. "

Yea and that maturity came across as her singing happy birthday like Monroe, like a virgin in lingerie, and trying to seduce a 40 year old hit man. Wake up man.

"Now, I would say, she's widely regarded for her intelligence and acting ability, not because you think she looks like a teenager."

Yea, Now. She got the foot in the door by being jail bait in a movie focused on an anti-hero.

"Should she have waited until she graduated college to go into acting?"

Frankly, yes. Child stars tend to be damaged goods, I don't think we should sacrifice children on the alter of our entertainment, but that would make a lot of movies impossible so I get thats its unrealistic.

And if you mean from a business perspective, of course not, but weather something is good business and ethical are different sometimes mutually exclusive points.

"What kind of line are you trying to draw?"

One the separates us from completely full of shit land. There is a reason our culture gives birth to serial killers and pedophiles by the dozen, and its not so simple as monkey see monkey do, its about a pervasive attitude that certain things are ok, things outside of the movies themselves, things like building a movie around a sex scene, telling eachother its art when what we really want is Damien's ky jelly fight.

I say we start being honest. I don't care that we're getting a film with them diving on eachother what I care about is the fact that we're pretending its not about that. Like you are. We are a whole society still acting like we get playboy for the articles.

"Megan Fox can't play a high school girl because she's 21 at the time of Transformers and preternaturally attractive?"

No she shouldn't, the reason they found a barely legal was so when they poured on the stripper they wouldn't get shit from parents groups when it came time to sell the toys. Pick one, if you want a highschool girl, fine hire one, if you want a stripper, fine, hire one. But what we really want as a society is to screw a cute school girl that can't even buy booze. We should own up, or try to fix it if we feel it needs fixing.

This white elephant crap has got to go.

"So Michael J. Fox shouldn't have played Alex Keaton on Family Ties?"

For one he still looks like he's 25, and he was playing his role completely, he looked like a kid and he was playing a kid. Megan on the other hand was a sex object and nothing else, she looked like a stripper and was playing a kid.

Did you know that can get you federal time as a sex offender if you do it in porn? It doesn't matter if the players are 60, or even if it's a cartoon. If you simulate underage anything, you're busted. But Michael Bay can do it because he's saying "oh it's not about jeans that should have been tattooed on, it's not about getting her to writhe on the hood of a car, it's just her character, its just art. Please.

Besides we both know its radically diffrent for men and boys.

"Natalie Portman's almost 30. She can do a lesbian scene if she wants to."

And thats fine, you fail to understand I'm not being a prude I'm being honest. It's the bullshit I can't stand. the guy is making a movie as an excuse to get two hotties to heavy pet. And we'll all buy a ticket proudly because we can all pretend its not about getting wood.

"Nobody's holding a gun to her head",

No but they'll paying her a shitload.

"and nobody's calling it art. "

Are you shitting me? it's a movie about BALLET! Nuff said.

"It's titillation and there's nothing whatsoever wrong with that."

Yes, there is, when it's sold as something it's not.

By your logic Saving Ryan's Privates is a WW2 movie.

Your way off base with your whole diatribe, analysis, and bolshit you spewed all over this posting...

I mean are you that ignorant and innocent to such things occurring like this in Hollywood..

I mean please certain actress will play these certain roles because obviously something in the role attracts them to it... I thought I was cynnical of the world but you have taken it to a whole nother level ...Calling the people pedophiles and closeted serial killers I mean come on what are you smoking....

Your whole theory or ideology is way off base, so things like this cannot be art but it must be trash to your mind b/c it has sex or sexual images, you DONT EVEN KNOW HOW IT WILL BE FILMED LET ALONE LOOK LIKE!!!!

YOUR SAYING ONE OF THE GREATEST DIRECTORS WORKING TODAY IS MAKING A FILM JUST BECAUSE HE WANTS 2 HOT CHICKS TO HAVE SEX????
-your ridiculous and that whole statement is absurd

Oh and yeah when 2 girls do make out at a bar ITS PRETTY HOT not fucking obnoxious dude...

I think there is either blatant hypocrisy or just sententiousness going on in this man's opinion. First you claim that we need to "start being honest" but you want to ignore subject like pedophilia, murder and any movies involving children because child actors have fucked up lives (guess what pal, lots of children lead fucked up lives and its important to tell these kinds of stories through film, which to me is art, not always, but sometimes). To attack this film based on the fact that two attractive (one being an amazingly intelligent and brilliant actress, the other perhaps trying to join that category) women are going to have passionate sex is absurd... guess what, lets "start being honest" there are attractive women out there who have passionate sex.

This is what I hate about American audiences ruined by American filmmaking tendencies. Yeah Michael Bay is a douche and films young women like objects but have you walked down a street lately? There are much younger girls than Megan Fox dressed much more revealing and to ignore this in a film about highschool would be a lie... at least even he had the decency to hire an older actress to play his scantily clad heroine.

I really don't get your argument at all... your claim that The Professional was almost Lolita is maybe the most ridiculous indictments of your entire argument, heaven forbid the film almost achieve a level of art close to one of the most celebrated novels (and films by Kubrick) of the last century. Expand your brain and come to terms with the reality... first sex sells so obviously they are going to use it and second sex sells for a reason, its part of this thing we call the human condition... why don't you start being honest with yourself and climb off your ridiculously high horse. Maybe read some philosophy and film theory, maybe watch a few foreign films, and discover what being honest about humanity entails.

Does our culture give birth serial killers by the dozen? How many serial killers do you think there are at any given time, exactly? The FBI says 20 to 50 are running around right now. And if we weren't busy arresting pot dealers, maybe we'd have the resources to find more of them.

And if, indeed, the notion that the "pervasive attitude that certain things are OK" led to sex crimes and murder held true sociologically - which it certainly does not by any peer-reviewed empirical evidence - then violent crime, rape, murder, and teen pregnancy statistics would be drastically on the rise. That's not true. In any case. In fact, they've dropped dramatically in the last 15 to 20 years.

http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/glance.htm#Crime

http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/2006/09/12/USTPstats.pdf

As it relates to Jack the Ripper, my point is sick people are sick people, and they don't need stimuli. Where's the precedent for him? What did he watch that turned him into that kind of monster? Did Ed Gein get so twisted by watching Milton Berle? Why was the Marquis de Sade, well, a sadist? Where'd he get that idea? He was a sick dude, that's where.

Switching gears, I'd like to remind you, Brandon, that you're the one who introduced the concept of "art" into this discussion. It's never mentioned in my article nor the script review about which we're reporting. You're making a grand assumption that it's something more than what it is. Because it has a ballerina, that makes it art? No more than any paralegal who took seven years of ballet until her joints gave out is an artist.

Where do you get your information that any porn that intimates underage sex, no matter how old the performer, is a federal crime? I can only assume you're referring to Max Hardcore, busted last year for interstate sales of obscene material, and who commonly used performers dressed as schoolgirls. The obscene material was related to vomiting and urination in those sexual situations, which were ruled to not meet the Miller standard for obscenity. It was not about outfits and pigtails. In fact, you have it exactly backwards: The Supreme Court ruled that prohibiting the depiction of minors in porn was unconstitutional (Ashcroft vs. Free Speech Coalition, 2002).

"By your logic, Saving Ryan's Privates is a WW2 movie." Nope, by my logic, it's porn. Can't see anywhere in my article or my rebuttal to your initial comments that I was twisting Black Swan into anything but a psychological thriller with a hot sex scene. Not art. Hot.

And good for them.

Friday, August 21, 2009 | Registered CommenterColin Boyd

I'm confused... why are art and beautiful women having sex mutually exclusive? I'm not saying the film will definitely be art but we are pretty early in the game to preclude the possibility. After all Aronofksy has made some of the best films within the United States film system in the last decade (and his first feature made independently). These comments are baffling to me.

Friday, August 21, 2009 | Unregistered Commenteranybody

Wow, Brandon's inner pedo angst is creeping in here. I think his issue is that this tempts him even further to do his worst.

Colin, way to stand strong, as always. Portman, who is a couple years younger than me, is a fine actress, and there is no reason to call an attraction to her pedophelia. Same goes for Kunis. All of us were children at one time. Does that make everyone who ever had lust for someone a closet pedophile?

Friday, August 21, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterKevin

*smirks* you kids don't actually expect me to try and convince you do you? I mean this is something you either understand or you don't. And it's certainly something everyone opposed to me would lie about.

I mean really,

But I will respond to Colin, at least he's trying to be remotely objective.

"Does our culture give birth serial killers by the dozen?"

I said serial killers and pedophiles. Obviously there are more pedophiles than serial killers.

"pervasive attitude that certain things are OK" led to sex crimes and murder held true sociologically - which it certainly does no"

Don't be silly, all criminals think what they are doing is ok from their perspective or they wouldn't be doing it. Unless they are being forced in which case it stops being a true crime on their part.

If you really want to get into a sociological debate with me pick a topic on underlore.com, I've written and researched a great deal on the subject of pedophilia manufacture. I mean honestly, do you actually think dressing pre teens in the same thing we dress college girls has had no impact on the public perception relating to the sexulaization of children? If you want to pretend that media has absolutely no impact on sexual proclivity go for it.

"In fact, they've dropped dramatically in the last 15 to 20 years. "

Of course they have! Look at the technology facing them look at the saturation of CCTV and the general security explosion nation wide. Look at the law enforcement spending and the prison population. Not to mention general progress on the gun rights front. 9/11 alone opened law enforcement doors that could never have been opened otherwise.

Prevention does not lessen motivation. I'm talking about what people WANT to do, not what they CAN do. The context is fantasy here, it's a movie, it's a series of ideas.

"Where's the precedent for him? What did he watch that turned him into that kind of monster?"

I said specifically that it's not a monkey see monkey do, I am not saying tv causes violence, don't strawman me. However jack the ripper was in fact created in much the same way as pedophilia is in our society. Brutal sexism and classism in england at the time coupled with sexual tension the likes of only the country that gave us Victorianism can deliver culminated in the attitude among many upper class gentlemen, that women, whores especially were truly subhuman.

It was a given in his era that women were next to nothing. Granted they had no TV but they did have social norms, and rudimentary media. The attitude that it was ok to think of women in these terms was literally everywhere. And thats a huge part of what allowed him to indulge his own desires in logical accord with that belief. Well if women are nothing then they won't mind if i butcher a few will they.

It's the same with sexualizing children, we allow our social pressure ot lead us in the direction that sex appeal comes before everything else., and we allow sex appeal to be directly linked to symbols of youth. How many strippers wear pigtails and school uniforms? how many little girl Halloween costumes have grown up lingerie versions? How many port stars have shaved genitals? And most important in this context, how many leading ladies perceived age shifts towards the sexually appealing and away from the plot?

I mean come on, even with movies as early as The Rock Blatant pedo fantasy was being sold. "You like my pigtails?" she asks... Yes, "Very naughty" he says, Why? Why is it naughty? Why is it sexy? Forbidden fruit. And what is pretty much the only sexual taboo left in our culture? you guessed it.

You can act all shocked and outraged, all of you, if you want, but the fact is, we are creating pedophiles in a classic feedback loop. A what is accepted as "art" is a huge factor. Dishonesty is an even bigger one.

"It's (art) never mentioned in my article nor the script review about which we're reporting."

Come on! The whole tone of your article is making fun of the fact that "fanboys" are going to go watch a ballet flick under false pretenses. Or are you saying that Aronofsky is setting out to make softcore? You gotta pick one dude, either its being sold as a movie, and hence a form of art, or its pr0n.

"Where do you get your information that any porn that intimates underage sex, no matter how old the performer, is a federal crime?"

Your information while at one time correct is now out of date. According to wikipedia "In 2008, a man in Cleveland, Ohio was found guilty of downloading "child pornography" when he downloaded computer generated cartoons"

Also might i direct your attention to...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_pornography_laws_in_the_United_States#Section_1466A

Which clearly criminalizes any form of simulated childporn UNLESS it has "serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value"

"...Black Swan into anything but a psychological thriller with a hot sex scene."

Yea, and how often do you do dedicated posts on rumored single scenes in movies? Don't pretend like sex isn't the focus here, You're the one that wrote a whole article about a single sex scene.

And you're right it IS news, my point is just that it is a reflection of a SERIOUS closet case syndrome.

And the rest of you can call me a pedophile for pointing that out all they want, I've already throughly shredded that view point put forth far more articulately, in great detail, on my blog. I don't appreciate you staying silent on that point Colin, why don't you just join in on the libel?

We've been in communication for a long time, do you seriously think I'm a pedophile? And if I were would I put my real name all over this debate?

FYI This is my area, I plan to have a phd in sociology by the time I die, and I have a book in the proof reading stage that is 90% dedicated to sociology and the media,

Pick any single factual claim i've made, i'll demonstrate it. Don't think i'm just pulling this opinion out of my ass.

"We are a nation of closet serial killers and pedophiles."

"Don't be silly, all criminals think what they are doing is ok from their perspective or they wouldn't be doing it. "

"If you simulate underage anything, you're busted."

"And what is pretty much the only sexual taboo left in our culture? you guessed it."

You should be careful dealing with those kinds of terms. Not all criminals believe they're doing the right thing. Many of them do the wrong thing precisely because it's wrong.

Pedophilia's the only sexual taboo left? Scatology is commonplace, bestiality and S & M are now the talk of the town? Come on.

Here's something else to consider: The screenplay for Black Swan was first picked up by a completely different studio in 2007. So in order for your argument that a sex scene like the one described is patently offensive and fosters pedophilia, then wouldn't the writer have to know the future? Wouldn't he have to know that his script would fall into the hands of another writer and that because the director of The Wrestler would later be involved it would months afterward attract the interest of 28-year-old Natalie Portman, who fifteen years earlier played a Lolita role? For your sex-scene-involving-young-looking-girls theory to hold water, all of that would need to be true.

It would also help your argument if Portman was a lousy actress nobody wanted to work with instead of one of the more in-demand actors of her generation, a designation she holds not because you think she looks young but because, as she has demonstrated consistently since Leon, she's great at her job.

Where was your outcry last year when The Other Boleyn Girl featured an even younger Portman raped by Eric Bana?

Once again, my article had nothing whatsoever to do with people seeing this movie under false pretenses or that this is something masquerading as art or vice versa. It is, in fact, a celebration of two beautiful women getting after it. We'll see if the Supreme Court even allows its release because of what it may make people want to do.

You tried to argue that movies like this shouldn't be made, but there's no evidence beyond your own protests that anything remotely sinister even exists in it. Two grown women having sex. Happens all the damn time.

I admit to not being a big fan of Aronofsky and from the description of it, the script is geared to his weaknesses. He'll need lesbian hot sex to sell this film to the public .

Quoting the Sargent:

"Don't be silly, all criminals think what they are doing is ok from their perspective or they wouldn't be doing it. "

That's complete crap. Many many criminals know what they're doing is wrong. Many pedophiles know what they're doing is wrong.

How many times have YOU made a mistake...or even sinned, and KNOWN it was wrong. Ever speed? It's against the law. Ever make an illegal copy of a CD, or a casette tape? Illegal. Ever lie? That's morally wrong. Ever looked at a woman, who wasn't your wife, with lust? (And don't lie...EVERY man has at least 1 time in his life). Thats a sin. Did you do any of these things being ignorant of the fact that they were either illegal and or morally wrong? No...you knew they were wrong. Who needs to wake up? You do. You're the one being real? Please....

Pedophiles do it because they are sick. And many of them KNOW they are sick and hate themselves for it.

Your argument based on what I quoted from you is very weak. I hope you're not planning your PHD on it.

I see that during the course of the discussion that happened in the comments for this article, people touched on the subject of Megan Fox. Some people even say that she's no longer able to play a school girl because of her age. I have to respectfully disagree - Megan is a consummate actress, and her acting skills will be more than enough to compensate for her age. I think she should prove you wrong by appearing in the next video by Max Hardcore.
