Mike Judge Talks More 'Beavis and Butt-Head'

From the department of That Would Totally Kick Ass, Mike Judge recently sat down with Collider to discuss his new comedy, Extract, and he didn't rule out another Beavis and Butt-Head movie. Far from it, in fact. However, he does warn fans that it's a tremendous amount of work.

"I like to keep the door open on Beavis and Butt-Head, because its my favorite thing that I ever done. It's the thing I'm most proud of," Judge told Collider. "Another movie... the problem is it takes a year and half, two years, two and a half years - maybe - to do that right. And that's a pretty strong level of comittment. I'm going to look at that again. That comes up every three years."

Judge said he has a lot of ideas that could work for Beavis and Butt-Head - and obviously that means a movie because a new series would require even more effort - but that he'd have to animate it himself to do it justice, hence the two-years-plus it would take to make another one. If Extract does well, and I have a sneaking suspicion it will be his most successful live-action movie in terms of box office receipts (Office Spacehas been huge on DVD, not at all in theaters), which should help Judge set up whatever his next project is.

The first Beavis and Butt-Head movie made over $60 million, so about five times its budget. As cool as it would be to have a sequel, I doubt it could do that kind of business again, but who knows? Maybe there will be enough of a nostalgic reaction to make it a huge hit.
