Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 1:18PM Trailer - James Cameron's 'Avatar: The Game'
With video game trailers, there is always the question of whether or not you're watching actual gameplay or cut scenes, those more theatrical interludes between adventures or levels in the overwhelming majority of games. The new trailer for Avatar: The Game takes care of that upfront, revealing that everything you see you can play in the game.

Yeah, James Cameron's Avatar, which either bowled people over or (if it's possible) bowled people under last week with its long-awaited movie trailer and 15 minutes of footage released on Friday, will have a video game tie-in. That's only natural, I guess, as Cameron has been developing games on the side for a while now.
If it is indeed gameplay, then it's pretty terrific. Of course, Cameron and Ubisoft have developed it as stereoscopic 3-D, although I'm not sure how that's going to work if the end of the chain (your TV or monitor) isn't also 3-D.
The game will come out in December, which you noticed if you watched the trailer. The movie's set for the 11th of that month, so more than likely, this will be available on the 8th, 11th, or 15th, the two Tuesdays surrounding the film's release or a same-day launch for both produts. That's a slight change from the Ubisoft site, which claims November 24th, just in time to kick off the holiday rush.
