Friday, August 28, 2009 at 7:03PM Daniel Craig Moves Into Jim Sheridan's 'Dream House'
Maybe he's not the best James Bond (he's no worse than second, however), but for my money, Daniel Craig is the best actor to ever play 007. Sure, Connery's had his moments but he's got all the versatility of a plaid suit. Craig, on the other hand, has been very good in action, in heavy drama...basically everything except Invasion, which was hardly his fault.

Craig has signed on with director Jim Sheridan for the psyhcological thriller Dream House, and that's a pretty big story. Craig's great and Sheridan is certainly no slouch. In fact, he's one of the best directors people never think of.
But the real headline here is that Dream House represents something of a new beginning for Morgan Creek, which hasn't made a movie in three years. Already, the term "psychological thriller" seems to undersell the possibilities with Sheridan and Craig aboard. James Bond version 6.0 will play a publishing executive who moves his family to a New England town where they soon discover their home was the scene of vicious crimes. What, they moved into the same place where Ice Cube shot Are We Done Yet?
Now, on the surface, it's easy to think this is a rip-off of any number of Amityville Horror rip-offs. Let's hope not. Craig can pick his projects, and he has usually done so wisely since having earned that right. Sheridan, minus the strange, ill-fitting collaboration with 50 Cent on Get Rich or Die Tryin', has also navigated his career very well. Certainly, if the two of them wanted to work together, they wouldn't just pounce on a bad script, right?
Filming begins on January 25th, and as of this writing, there's a 2011 release date. I wonder if that won't move up into the latter half of next year, however.
