Friday, August 28, 2009 at 12:36PM Maggie Grace Heads to 'Wichita' with Diaz and Cruise
Maggie Grace, best remembered as the stuck up hot chick from the first season (or two) of Lost and worst remembered for her way too childish teenager in this year's Taken, has been cast as Cameron Diaz' sister in the James Mangold spy thrilla, Wichita, that also stars Tom Cruise.

The casting announcement also sheds a little more light on the story, which was a bit of an unknown before. According to reports, Diaz plays a woman stuck in a listless life before going on a blind date with Cruise. He's a spy, and they get caught up in a web of international intrigue, thus breaking the monotony of her day-to-day life.
At risk: "a powerful battery that holds the key to an infinite power source." Hmm. That might need a re-write.
As Diaz' sister, Grace is days away from her wedding, which we can assume exacerbates Diaz' loneliness to the point of going on the blind date. She is not kidnapped in this film and we hope she doesn't act like a twelve-year-old.
It might seem like a strange project for director James Mangold (Walk the Line), so I can only guess he has some liberties with the screenplay and that he sees enough potential in the base premise and his stars that he might be able to duct tape it together. Wichita opens next summer and begins filming later this fall.

Whats up with the title though?
Wichita?? I mean why Wichita?
Because that's where Diaz's character is from, I guess.
Any chance they might be shooting on location (doubt it...)? I ask becuase I'm from Wichita and haven't heard anything.
Nevermind! I just read your response from my original question back on May 28th. Thanks, BTW.
