Monday, August 3, 2009 at 10:12AM Fantastic New 'Baader Meinhof Complex' Poster
We just received the latest poster for the Best Foreign Language Film
nominee The Baader Meinhof Complex, a German film
that chronicles the rise of the controversial Red Army Faction, a communist guerilla group that
emerged in West Germany in the late 1960s.

The group actually existed until 1998, which seems like maybe they didn't get the paper or
something. Anyway, the movie opens in New York on August 21st, in Los Angeles the following week,
and hopefully in more cities once September rolls around.
This poster was created by Shepard Farley's Studio Number One, and it flat kicks my ass.

You know a few of the film's stars, even if you don't know it. Moritz Bleibtreu is the boyfriend in Run Lola
Run, which somehow wasn't an Oscar nominee. Alexandra Maria Lara, she of the three first names, was in Coppola's Youth Without Youth and
had a brief appearance in The Reader.
And of course, the great Bruno Ganz is the Hitler whose tirade
has been co-opted on YouTube to show der Führer's anger at everything from the death of Michael Jackson to the Buffalo Bills signing Terrell Owens. The film
that clip is from is Downfall, which was nominated for the Foreign Language Oscar five
years ago and also co-stars Alexandra Maria Lara. Small world.
Be on the lookout for more stuff from The Baader Meinhof Complex this month, and make a
mental note of that August 21st release date.
