Trailer - Rachel Weisz in Amenabar's 'Agora'

The next film from The Others director Alejandro Amenabar is Agora, a huge, sweeping historical epic starring Rachel Weisz as Hypatia, a pagan philosopher and teacher in fiftth century Roman Egypt. Sounds fascinating, right? Wait...it gets better.

Hypatia railed against the establishment in Egypt as Christianity was becoming the biggest thing before sliced bread, so I suspect this story has a lot of great dramatic scenes with Weisz, and it might even be suspiciously relevant today. And there's this: It can't be as bad as Alexander.

Amenabar's new film will debut in North America at the Toronto Film Festival in a couple of weeks, but there's no US release date yet. I guess we'll see what the response is. It sure looks like he got a lot for his money here, and I think the trailer will generate a bit more interest than the film would without it:
