I preferred the title Cirque du Freak, but I guess that probably sends off a more adult-oriented vibe. Instead, it's now The Vampire's Assistant, which is now part of The Cirque du Freak Saga. In reality, Darren Shan's books on which this film is based are the Vampire's Blood Trilogy. More on that in a second.
The new poster for The Vampire's Assistant has just found its way to us. I'm a little befuddled by this one being the first step, though. It's an unfamiliar title, it's an unfamiliar actor (Chris Massoglia), and it's not a particularly unique design. Why not go with Salma Hayek, John C. Reilly, Willem Dafoe, or Ken Watanabe?

The "first chapter" opens October 23rd, and reportedly, if all goes well, there will be more films. However, Shan's Vampire Blood Trilogy has been condensed into this one movie. For future installments, Universal is said to be adapting the rest of the overall series, The Saga of Darren Shan, which is split into three other trilogies, which would be constructed the same way. Kind of confusing, but I'd rather watch four of something than 12, so it makes some sense.
