Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at 1:35PM World Shrugs at Jennifer Love Hewitt's Request to Play Wonder Woman
We've been down this road before, where actors who have never been mentioned for an upcoming
film project throw their hats in the ring, hoping to be involved down the line. I look at it like this: When you're a star the magnitude of Johnny Depp or Angelina Jolie, the press bleeds itself to pair your name to a Batman villain. When, on the other hand, you're Brian Austin Green, you have to shoehorn yourself into the discussion about playing The Riddler. It's kind of like saying, "Dude, I know she's your girlfriend, but if she wasn't..." Nobody asked you. Shut up.

There are two such meager requests today, one involving Wonder Woman and one involving World of Warcraft. When asked about recovering her film career after the stablizing influence of her show The Ghost Whisperer, Jennifer Love Hewitt told MTV, "I want to play Wonder Woman really badly. I want them to make the movie of Wonder Woman, and I want to play Wonder Woman so bad. That'd be really fun."
I doubt it. There's no big push to get her back into theaters, and when they finally get off their ass and put a Wonder Woman movie together, it won't be for a 5'3" actress with limited action chops. Also, if you think they're going to give this role to a woman in her thirties, I would beg to differ. That's just the way studios operate. If a Charlize Theron or an Angelina really wanted the role, that would change things, but let's just say short women over the age of 29 aren't on the wish list at the moment. That's a shame, too, because I still saw Rosario Dawson would burn that role to the ground, and I really was impressed with Moon Bloodgood in Terminator. They're both over that limit now.
The other rumor comes from Brandon Routh, who, conveniently, played another DC hero a couple of years ago. This one is less specific, though. Also talking to that former music video channel, the former Man of Steel said because he's a gamer he's really going to keep an eye on what Sam Raimi does with World of Warcraft. Routh was then prompted about whether or not he'd like to be in that movie, and he said, fairly nonchalantly, "You know...a little action, a little swordfighting, that'd be a lot of fun."
So Routh isn't saying, "I'd love to work with Sam Raimi on this" and inviting himself to the party, just that it's great they're making a movie and who wouldn't want to be in the cast for that? And really, because of the potential scope of a Warcraft movie, there should be plenty of parts to go around.
As for Jennifer Love Hewitt: Good God, woman, you're dating Jamie Kennedy. How much more good fortune do you need?

Jennifer Love Hewitt is over 30? Great, now you've gone and made me feel old. On another note, why shouldn't she get another shot at a film career? I agree, it isn't going to be in action, but people are going to see Katherine Heigl in rom-coms, I don't see why they wouldn't with her. She's anchored a successful tv show long enough to get another shot. I liked Heartbreakers and Can't Hardly Wait. *Shrugs*
There's some things I like about Hewitt but none of those that come to mind have anything to do with acting. I could sooner see her getting another shot at somebody's film before a Lohan, Mariah, Britney, Paris or Jessica Simpson would. The Wonder Woman role though? Probably not and pretty much for the reasons you've given. Dawson I could see, Bloodgood not so much though I do like her but I think Eva Mendes would fit better if WW was going to get done. With so much thought given to going darker with everything after the success of the Bat, how would a Wonder Woman film even turn out?
As for Routh, of course he'd love to be cast in the Warcraft movie. That is until he learns that his role is that of flightmaster in Sentinel Hill who gets killed in a Horde raid.
Jennifer for Wonder Woman... hmmm.. give her a chance to audition for the role I guess. But for Brandon to star in WoW, why not? Oh well, I wonder if Brandon would still volunteer for other movies about online games like Aion even if it requires him to portray a character digging for aion kinah ^^
Jennifer Love Hewitt is not over 30 she is 30, and I think she would be great as wonder woman.
Why limit the role of Wonder Women to a Women ? Why not have a hot stud muffin like Zac Effron play Wonder Women, NOW THAT'S A MOVIE I'D LEAVE MY HAIR PALOUR FOR TO WATCH.
