As movie fans, one of the great things about the internet is that we now get great little treats that we never would have seen before because there was no outlet for them. Red Band trailers, viral video, and interactive websites have really helped sell some movies, and that trend's not going anywhere. In fact, I don't think it's a trend anymore. More likely, it's a policy for some studios and filmmakers.

Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds will be in theaters on August 21st, and to help build a little more online momentum, Eli Roth - who co-stars in the film - has directed a trailer for Nation's Pride, the Nazi propaganda movie that plays a central role in the events of Tarantino's story. It's a great idea and it's done with as much of a tongue-in-cheek approach as you could muster for Nazi propaganda.
The only distracting thing to me is that it looks entirely modern. I mean, what's the point of making a fake trailer for a 70-year-old movie that looks brand new? Why not just make it in color if you're going to do it the way it's been done. But I digress...

Same complaint here. It plays like a trailer that resides in an alternative history where German won the war and makes movies in English.
I agree 100%. Not sure why they even bothered, the whole thing looks half hearted, as if black and white were enough. They could'nt have taken an extra couple of hours to dirty it up like the trailers in Grindhouse? Lame.
To me it seems like the point of the trailer was to make it appear modern so that people would wonder about it. If you didn't know anything about Inglorious Basterds and saw this trailer you would probably wonder why the hell someone was making a pro-nazi sniper film and try to find out more info about it. Then you would find out that it's part of the movie and be more interested in seeing it....
just my opinion though.
