Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at 3:00PM Angelina Breastfeeding Statue To Debut in Oklahoma
No, you don't see this everyday, although for a certain segment of the population, I'm sure there's a wish that it were more prevalent. It's a statue of Angelina Jolie breastfeeding.

So outside of fetishism, what's going on? Daniel Edwards, the artist who rose to fame for his similar piece featuring Briney Spears birthin' on a bearskin rug, says it's a "celebration of family and home" but believe what you want. Edwards calls his latest work Landmark for Breastfeeding, and it will be on display next month in Norman, Oklahoma - outside of Oklahoma City - before debuting in London. Hailing from the Sooner State, I'm not entirely sure how this will go over there.
Said Sandy Wilson of Phantom-Financial, the group behind Edwards' sculpture, “We believe the statue sends a beautiful message by promoting the acceptance of public breastfeeding. Mothers should be encouraged to nurture their babies anywhere." The unveiling of the statue will coincide with World Breastfeeding Week, and that's the first time I've ever strung together those words in a sentence.
Here's a video of Edwards discussing his latest work:
If travel plans take you near the University of Oklahoma campus, look for a naked, bronzed Jolie providing for her babies at MAINSITE Contemporary Art in Norman beginning on September 11th.

So we are skipping august and going straight to april?
What in the fuck???!!!
Wow all this "celebrity" stuff going on around Angelina Jolie is pretty fuckin ridiculous..
I mean some press were actually comparing her to Audrey Hepburn for her humanitarian efforts, that is the most fucking ridiculous and pathetic comparison ive ever heard....
I mean Audrey was a beautiful wonderful kind gentle soul while Angelina wants to adopt the world and makes headlines for nothing...
Oh yea and Audrey never hired "hired" photographers to follow her and make public her humanitarian efforts and aid while Angelina invites them everywhere she goes to better her image...its pretty sad and manipulative
Newman did the same thing the public never heard about all his humanitarian aid and camps for children until he died, the real stars dont need to do such petty despicable acts for attention and to better their image!
Actually, Angelina deserves a great deal of credit for her humanitarian efforts. She's been an envoy for UNESCO for almost a decade and I dare say has volunteered her time to go places they couldn't pay you to enter.
Despite anyones humanitarian efforts...and the motivation behind them...the statue doesn't even look like her....and Edwards is a creep. I suppose the statue is encouraging women to breastfeed in public.....completely naked? Now if he'd made a statue of a woman, breastfeeding clothed like a normal person would be in public...that would be a different story. But that fact that he makes Angelina totally naked...and put Britney in a sexual position while crowning...simply shows that Edwards is a freak. It's rediculous.
Maybe being completely naked is acceptable if you happen to be breastfeeding twins... at the same time.
I would have to agree that she should have some PANTS!! I realize her breasts have to be at least partially exposed to feed but no pants, or shoes or a shirt unbuttoned, come on? As far as her humanitarian efforts go, she has not reached Hepburn status but it does not mean we should minimize her efforts either. Whatever she does can help and lets leave it there. This has nothing to do with those efforts. She likes the limelight and that is not new to humans but if she is using her star power for some good then fine. People are complex and not all good or bad and we do not have to like what we perceive as the bad but it does not wipe out what good is done either, so some balance is good.
I don't have anything against breast feeding, but that is just creepy.
Probably the tackiest thing I've seen in a while. There are some sick people around.
