Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 7:33PM Trailer - 'Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant'
The other day, the first poster for the movie formerly known as Cirque du Freak arrived online. Nothing to get very excited about, and I didn't like that it's now Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant, the last part of which - I believe - is also a common description of paralegals.

I understand the change, of course, because they're hoping to build a franchise out of the Darren Shan books a la young mister Potter. These books may be excellent, I have no idea, but I'd still like someone to demonstrate for me in a lab how they can actually make lightning strike twice. I'm not trying to be down on the proposed series, but look at the trouble Narnia has gone through and what happened to The Golden Compass, Inkheart, and Eragon.
Having rained on the parade, though, I do like the new trailer for The Vampire's Personal Secretary Who Often Speaks Ill of His Employer Behind His Back. I don't love it, but director Paul Weitz seems to have found a way to not make this a Potter clone on screen. It's a little more macabre, and it has the benefit of a bearded Salma Hayek. If you're not familiar with the movie yet, see if you can spot the other stars. It's a pretty good cast.

The Vampire's Assistant will open on October 23rd, and it could give Saw VI a legitimate run for its money.

What is it with Salma Hayek and facial hair? First there was that windscreen-washer disguise in After The Sunset, and now this. (The less said about her monobrow in Frida, the better...)
The books are actually quite good, and better known on the other side of the pond. The trailer is suggesting more broad humor then I would've have expected and the two leads seem questionable (even though considering the years the series progresses it's understandable Shan would be aged up a bit) Otherwise it actually looks good and I'd trust Weitz with this.
Yeah, that trailer looks decent enough. The poster needs work however.
i dont know why u dont like it.....of course there is a problem with these books and that's because the reall story begins from the 5th book...and the firs movie is not going to intrest pepole.....but if they try to make the secound movie it will.....
but i'm thinking hopfully......

the movie is a compleetley diffrent story.
I have been taking splenda for several months. Just lately I realized that the moles on arms and especially legs had increased.By a sudden impulse while visiting my doctor for something else I showed the increased moles to him on one leg. He pointed out that two of the moles did not look good, he sent one small part of one of them to the lab and it came back as pre- cancerous. Both moles have been removed since. No more splenda for me. nmovbb nmovbb - manolo blahnik.
