Friday, August 7, 2009 at 9:34PM International 'Doctor Parnassus' Trailer
You mean all along I've been pronouncing it wrong? For over a year, I've been saying Par-NASS-us, but according to this new inernational trailer, it's pronounced Par-NOSS-us. That does sound more European, doesn't it?

Now, if you only know that The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is Heath Ledger's last movie and that Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell, and somebody else (it's Jude Law) stepped up and completed filming for director Terry Gilliam following Ledger's death, then you probably think Heath was Par-NOSS-us, but he's not. That's Christopher Plummer. Ledger (and the others) plays a guy named Tony. That does sound more European, doesn't it?
The new international trailer is a real feast. It looks like Gilliam has gone all out, even for him. And actually, I have to say, it looks remarkably interesting. The trailer shows us more than we've ever seen, and we even get glimpses of Law, Farrell, and Depp, plus Tom Waits as the devil.
I didn't know what to think before, but that's not a new sensation for Terry Gilliam movies. The trailer can't possibly tell the whole story. Now that I've seen this, though, I'm more encouraged than ever that he might have actually made some really original and alive. Lets' hope so. Parnassus opens in several countries beginning next month. I expect the American release dates will follow after its run at the Toronto Film Festival.

O yes.
The looney Terry Gilliam is back. This looks like a continuation of the Adventures of Baron Munchausen. Deliriously imaginative.
I doubt that it'll make any money, but I will most probably enjoy watching it.
(Good move ditching those crazy ads, Boyd.)
