Friday, August 7, 2009 at 7:17AM Second Trailer for 'Where the Wild Things Are'
Were it just another movie that sprouted up rather anonymously, I don't think I'd be
as interested in the outcome, but Where the Wild Things Are is not only a time-honored and beloved
classic children's book it's also a film that went through massive changes about a year ago.

From time to time, an actor will quit as a movie gets ready to roll the cameras, or a director is replaced
in the middle of the film. It happens. But Where the Wild Things Are was, by all accounts,
basically remade from beginning to end. Who knows what director Spike Jonze gave Warner Bros. initially,
but Jonze and his cast and crew had to go back to the drawing board.
Jonze, of course, is not the most palatable or mainstream of directors; Being John Malkovich and Adaptation prove that. But he does bring a sense of wonder to his films that fits perfectly with the Maurice Sendak short story, so it's both a great choice for a director and a surprise that he apparently missed the mark so wildly the first time.
Here's a second trailer for Where the Wild Things Are, which finally arrives in theaters on October 16th.
