Steven Spielberg to Produce 'Halo' Movie?
Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 4:34PM
Although IESB goes to great lengths to indicate this is very solid information, we're still throwing it on the rumor pile for the time being, no matter how could it would be and no matter how much sense it seems to make. Steven Spielberg might pick up the reins on Halo.

According to the story, which IESB says it has checked with studios and talent agencies multiple times before publishing it, Spielberg would produce the script that Stuart Beattie wrote after the Peter Jackson-Neill Blomkamp version got the stop sign. The script, titled Halo: The Fall of Reach, would in this scenario wind up at DreamWorks, a studio that could use a couple more major event movies. The first incarnation was being developed at Fox a couple years ago.
It's important to point out that this is, at least for now, being discussed as a producing project for Spielberg and not a directing gig. I guess that could develop, too, but there's no mention anywhere that it's something Spielberg wants to take a crack at.
He does, however, have a good sense of projects with massive appeal and a understands going back as far as E.T. how well movies and video games can position each other in the marketplace.
As a director, Spielberg is in hurry-up mode on his update of Harvey and Tintin is in the can for next December. But as a producer, he's as busy as ever, so one more heavy duty project like this wouldn't be a stretch for him.

I'm pretty sure Spielberg can make the cut on this game to movie adaptation whether he's the producer or director. Because if you'll compare him to a toon, he doesn't need a lot of wow gold or aion kina to level up for he will certainly deliver a masterpiece. :) But seriously, if ever this movie would materialize, expect it to be action-packed and its cinematic graphics will definitely blow our minds!
Agree with billyandrews..
And we all know this film has to be and will be BIG BIG budget....
Speilberg has cash for days so this comes as no surprise...
And PLUS he's friends with Peter Jackson now... So hopefully he'll throw him on to direct (he was originally I guess before it got scrapped)
-I cant see Speilberg directing this, no way
Honestly, I would love to believe any rumors about a "Halo" movie. Halo just makes sense not only as a movie but as a film franchise. This could be the video game movie that breaks through into the mainstream if done right.
But, I lost all hope after Jackson postponed the film indefinitely. Of course, I would love for Spielberg to produce or oversee the film in some way, but I just think that the "Halo" movie might just be too epic if it's not in the right hands. Besides, I'm all for smaller films like "District 9" rather than getting another big-budget disaster.
