Sunday, August 9, 2009 at 10:07AM J.J. Abrams Hires Writers for 'Mission: Impossible 4'
J.J. Abrams has a reputation for building up the careers of writers through his TV
projects and then letting those writers get involved with Bad Robot films, and it looks like he's done so
again.

As you may recall, Matt Reeves went from writing for and with Abrams to directing Cloverfield,
Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof basically run Lost and worked closely with J.J. on Star Trek
- which was co-written by two of his other charges, Kurtzman and Orci - and now he's looking in-house to
develop a fourth Mission: Impossible movie.
Josh Applebaum and André Nemec worked as writers and co-executive producers on Alias several years
ago and have been hired to write the M:I 4 script based on a story they devised with Abrams.
Variety is somewhat cautious when it comes to the rest of the Mission: Impossible team,
saying that Tom Cruise and Abrams will produce and hinting that Cruise's Ethan Hunt "will certainly be
involved in an onscreen capacity." Was there a chance that he wasn't?
The question that's still out there is whether or not Abrams will direct the next installment of the
series or whether he'll promote from within again. To me, that would be a huge sales job if Abrams
convinces Paramount he doesn't need to be behind the camera. And would Cruise go for it?
Mission: Impossible 3 was, in my opinion, the best of the bunch. It had better action, better
visuals without being way too silly, and a cleaner, more efficient story. You don't need Abrams to direct
a fourth movie to get those returns again, but it would probably help.

3rd was good and it had PSH as the villain and he played it much better than I thought and he actually took that role was a bit of a surprise too...
Im looking forward to it, I mean the series is very well known worldwide and will make money worldwide like crazy but in the states is what should be a little concern...
I dunno who the hell would star unless it's not Tom Cruise, I mean I wanna see him star as Ethan Hunt again!!!!!
- screw someone else
If anyone can help him and the film it is JJ Abrams
what struck me when I saw it was that MI3 was just like an episode of Alias (with Cruise in the Sydney Bristow role) and now it looks like it will continue the Alias connection with these Alias writers....
