Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 4:17AM Dude, Abide the New 'Law Abiding Citizen' Poster
The crowd really turned on me when I expressed my displeasure with the trailer for Law Abiding Citizen, in which Gerard Butler gets revenge on the people who killed his family and the lawyer (Jamie Foxx) fighting to set those killers free. My thought, in a nutshell, was if Butler could do all this stuff we saw in the trailer, why'd he let his family be so vulnerable in the first place?

But now is not the time to bring that argument back. Instead, let's focus on the new poster. Much like Star Trek, which kept recycling the same set of images over and over, this poster for Law Abiding Citizen has the already familiar shots of Foxx and Butler, but with a twist.
This one's not at all complicated, but they've nonetheless given us a pretty memorable poster given how little is actually involved. Good color contrast, interesting use of the fonts, so yeah - not bad at all. Click on the poster to enlarge...

It's made to look like a comic book movie poster which is kind of trendy now (Spirit, Sin City). The title is one word too long for a comic book title, but is close enough nevertheless. Does it suggest that maybe this Butler guy is going to carry out his revenge legitimately? I guess not. Which makes it all more comicbukish.
All right, Colin, come clean - how long did you spend coming up with the title to this post? You got a laugh out of me so mission accomplished.
