Jeepers Creepers, Where'd You Get That Threequel?

Here's a sequel out of left field: Jeepers Creepers 3. Series director Victor Salva tells Dread Central that the plan is to come back with a third movie, some six years after Jeepers Creepers 2, which didn't exactly set anyone's world on fire but it was profitable.

"The financing is just coming together, so perhaps we will be in pre-production shortly," Alva says. "We have been saying this for a year now, but that's really about all I can with any certainty."

The story seems to be set, and it kind of fits what will be probably and eight or nine year pause between installments. Salva says that Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral will take place 23 years in the future with Gina Philips, who played the female lead in the 2001 original, returning to once again do battle with The Creeper (Jonathan Breck).

Oh, and The Creeper gets his truck back in round three.

This might wind up being a direct-to-DVD release, and on that scale, a third movie in the series can probably be a success. Horror has done well theatrically this year, however, and MGM would be well-served to at least look at that option since the studio doesn't have a ton of viable franchise opportunities.
