Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 7:55AM Riddle Me This: Fake 'Dark Knight Returns' Poster?
I'm in disagreement with Hollywood Chicago about this, although Adam
Fendelman deserves the credit for finding it, much as we were several days ahead of the curve last
year when the first great fake poster for the next Batman movie was released.

Fendelman claims that this is a legit poster for what's being called The Dark Knight
Returns. As I have with every single rumor about this movie, I'm calling bullshit. The poster
showed up on IMDB about a week ago but went unnoticed. Does that mean it's real? No. IMDB very
often gets things wrong and is notoriously slow to correct them, although it's a more reliable
place to find a movie image than a gossip site.
At issue here is whether or not The Riddler really will be the focus of the next film. I'm
squarely in Camp Not-A-Script, and until Christopher Nolan stops working on Inception, I
don't think there will be one. Without that, I don't think you can say The Riddler's even in the
movie. After all, The Dark Knight changed villains, or didn't you know that? But it's a
good poster, no question:

Two more reasons I don't buy this one: 1) The use of the Batlogo from some of the promo materials
for The Dark Knight seen at the bottom of the poster. I don't think there's any way they'd
re-use that. 2) As it relates to IMDB, the listing for Untitled Batman Project still has a
2011 release date. I guess that's possible, although Warner Bros. already has the third July
Friday reserved for Harry Potter. I don't know where else the studio could put Batman:
Transformers, Potter, Green Lantern, and Captain America all open within six
weeks of each other.
My position is that the Nolans and David Goyer will write the script next year, after
Inception wraps and given Nolan's recent schedule, he'll book a couple months downtime
after the movie opens before he does anything. If that's the case, then you're looking at the
script starting to take shape in late 2010, and I don't think Warner Bros. would gamble on a six-month production window for possibly the most anticipated sequel ever.
So I'm calling fake. You?

Thank God they got Eddie Murphy to play the Riddler. I was afraid they wouldn't be able to live up to the Dark Knight. Or is it Johnny Depp, or Angelina Jolie...I can't remember.
I think it's fake because of the logo, and the face that "solve the riddle?" is the worst tagline ever. Also, they just combined the titles of the first two movies.
If Eddie Murphy drops out for some reason they should have mathew lesko play the riddler.
There is NO ONE casted to play the Riddler because there IS NO SCRIPT! Get your facts straight.
For all the up-to-date news go to batman-on-film.com- then go to movie news. All these rumors are complete BS!
I like the other fake riddler poster from about a year ago. The one where you just see his hand and some paper with question marks all over everything and it says something like "Who is Batman?" That one was pretty sick. These are all fake, but entertaining.
Batman-on-film, bit too much caffeine?
Don't these people making fake posters realize there is no way the movie realize there is no way it will be titled "The Dark Knight Returns". That name is just way to connected to Frank Miller's graphic novel to ever be used for another medium. Oh, and while this is alright for a fake, I prefer the Zodiac inspired one from last year. That was freaking amazing.
Batman-on-Film is a great resource for your Gotham City news. I'm inclined to side with them, although from the tone of the comment, I'm not sure they read my article in which we said exactly the same thing.
The poster doesnt shock me like I thought it would to be honest...
Whats all this fucking talk of Eddie Murphy???
Where the hell did that rumor come from???
Trust me people I highly doubt Eddie Murphy will be the Riddler.....
