Monday, September 14, 2009 at 3:32PM Bootlegged Trailer for Stallone's 'Expendables'
I guess the good news for a lot of people is that there's finally a trailer for The Expendables, the Sly Stallone ensemble action picture that will combine the star-driven impulses of The Great Escape with guys not nearly as cool as Steve McQueen.

The bad news is, the trailer's a bootleg, and not a particularly good one at that. But we shouldn't have to wait too long to get the full thing in a much better format, and really, you can make out what you need to make out. Kind of.
The movie co-stars Jet Li, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Randy Couture, Eric Roberts, and Brittany Murphy, and features cameos by Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. But the real stars here appear to be explosions and yelling. Good n' plenty:
Originally set for an April 2010 debut, The Expendables was bounced to the Basterds-friendly third weekend in August, so look for it on 8.20.10. And again, as soon as there's a better copy of the trailer, we'll get it to you.

So the existence of this bootleg trailer, like all bootleg trailers, caused the studio to pull it from the internet. You probably knew that was going to happen, too. So, whenever there is an official version, we'll get it right back to you.

Haha... the studios are really up on those take downs. It really makes me wonder why they're not nearly as swift when it comes to giving moviegoers such trailers in the first place. All this business of showing trailers and footage at this con or that con is fine if all they expect are a few hundred or couple thousand con attendees to buy tickets but they don't. They want the masses to shell out for their big budget flicks yet they only seek to tease a select few with scenes and then days, weeks, months later show it off to everyone. It just seems counterintuitive. If I were the studios I'd take down the crappy bootlegs as they do a disservice but I'd have the high quality stuff out there for all to see, embed, share etc.
