Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at 4:40PM Edward Norton Says He's Not In 'Iron Man 2'
I don't think it tells us anything definitively, but Edward Norton has addressed the rumors that he's appearing in Iron Man 2. The story goes - as substantiated, if that's the right word, by the film's IMDB listing - that Norton would cameo as Bruce Banner, much the same way Sam Jackson did a Nick Fury pop-by last year and Robert Downey showed up at the end of The Incredible Hulk. That would solidify the Avengers arc and would give us a major hint about Norton's presence in that film in 2012.

However, the actor says you shouldn't bet on it. "I heard that. I don't know where that's coming from," Norton told MTV. "I am not in Iron Man 2 to my knowledge."
Now, again, it doesn't mean Norton won't factor into Marvel's plans for The Avengers, although there's really only one other opportunity for him to cross over. Captain America is said to be a period piece, set during and immediately after World War II, so that only leaves Thor as a potential outlet for Banner/The Hulk.
We know the big green guy is in The Avengers, but based on the lackluster performance of both Hulk movies, it might be more practical to use only the CGI creation in spot duty rather than flesh out Banner's involvement with The Avengers when 2012 comes along. I suppose he could still be in that film without appearing in the rest of the films leading up to it, but it looks like it's just as likely Norton's time with Marvel could be done.

"I am not in Iron Man 2 to my knowledge."
I really hate comments like this probably because on occasion they represent a lie. How hard is it to definitively know you're not working on a movie? Hmmm, let me try it... I am not in Iron Man 2, period. See? not the least bit of ambiguity in that whatsoever. Or, wait ...maybe. I mean I was surfing around on Marvel.com yesterday but no, double negatively so... I am not in Iron Man 2. You know, unless I am.
God I just never know who is paying me to do work in their big budget films anymore!
I'm reading it as "We shot a couple of extra scenes during Hulk, where it's just my side of a conversation. They wouldn't even tell me who I was supposed to be talking to, just that it'll be added to 'an upcoming' Marvel film!"
