Five New Clips from Drew Barrymore's 'Whip It!'

Some early reviews of Drew Barrymore's Whip It! are encouraging if, like me, you think she has very wisely chosen her directorial debut, a spunky femme-centric movie with quirky characters. The Hollywood Reporter called it "remarkable" and Screen Daily says it's "energetic, approachable, girly but with a tomboy-ish sexiness." So that's exactly what I hoped it would be from the moment I saw the first trailer. Barrymore also exhibits a good eye for casting the major roles, and I expect Ellen Page to find new folds in the Juno persona to exploit here. One other thing Barrymore should be applauded for, sight unseen, is embracing the roller derby movement that is growing in major cities nationwide.
