Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 2:41AM 'District 9' Guy, Biel Round Out 'A-Team' Cast
A major step forward has been taken for The A-Team. The principal cast is set, with Sharlto Copley from District 9 joining the ensemble as "Howling Mad" Murdock, which isn't a big surprise to our regular readers, since we mentioned the possibility about a week ago.

But the big news is that Ridley Scott will now produce the Joe Carnahan-directed adaptation of the 1980s TV classic, and that Jessica Biel will come on board as eye candy. Actually, she's going to play the ex-girlfriend of Faceman (Bradley Cooper), a general trying to track down the A-Team at all costs. I believe that role was in the TV show, or something like it existed, anyway.
The project is set to start filming soon in Vancouver, and it's got a June 2010 release date. With Carnahan on board, I expect this to have a lot of action, maybe more than fans of the show would expect. As for the cast, we've got Liam Neeson as Hannibal Smith, UFC fighter "Rampage" Jackson as BA Baracus, Cooper, and now Copley, who has given one of this year's most unexpected great performances.
Movies like this are tough to cast precisely because the roles are so well-known. But I can't say I find fault with any of these decisions. Neeson is the only one that seems slightly askew, but only because George Peppard gave off much more of a old guy vibe on the NBC show.
