Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 9:59AM Box Office - 'Jennifer's Body' Eaten Alive on Friday
The only bad news for any new release this weekend seems to be directed at
Jennifer's Body, the new horror dark comedy starring Megan Fox. Estimated to make about $12
- $15 million this weekend, the movie got off to a very slow start on Friday, earning only $2.8
million, according to Box Office Mojo.

Horror movies generally start fast and fade quickly. The majority of them show signs of decline
beginning on day two, and if that holds true for Jennifer's Body, then this film might make
about 40 - 50% of the opening weekend projections. So much for Megan Fox moving tickets on her
own.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs led the Friday box office easily, which is no surprise.
Based on its $8.1 million debut, Meatballs should be headed toward $25 million or so this
weekend. You'd think Sony would want more from its animated film, because that's not a very
competitive number when you look at similar Pixar and DreamWorks movies. But as we've seen with
Ice Age this year, the US market isn't the only one cartoons can exploit, so perhaps that's
the plan here, as well.
Because Jennifer's Body fell flat, something else had to open in second place, and that
something was The Informant! with Matt Damon. It's not far enough ahead of everything else
that second place for the weekend can be assured, but with $3.6 million on Friday and being the
kind of movie that unlike Jennifer's Body doesn't feel like one that will experience a mad
rush on ticket sales only on the first day, The Informant! is probably looking at a $10
million weekend at least, and maybe as high as $13 million. That's a decent amount, given the
number of theaters and everything else.
Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself and the new Jennifer Aniston romance Love
Happens finished in the low $3 millions, placing them between The Informant! and
Jennifer's Body.
The full weekend numbers will be released tomorrow.

well with the internet and stuff I dont think people are going to be willing to pay the kind of money they were before for movies who's main draw is sexy girls. No one wants to pay 8-12 or whatever the range is in the country to see a girl they like. Especially when the biggest scene (walking out of the lake naked) supposedly got cut.
No Megan Fox nudity. No ticket sale. Easy enough.
absolutely the WORST movie I have had the pleasure of walking out of. OMG it is painful. My boyfriend is the one who dragged me OUT!!!!!
haha that just made me laugh. It must of been really really bad then
JB was just sexed up movie for horny teens wanting to see Megan Fox...of course it didnt do as well..
