Bill Murray and Robert Duvall in New 'Get Low' Clip

I have to confess I hadn't heard of Get Low until this clip started making the rounds. But any movie with Bill Murray and Robert Duvall is certainly worth knowing about, so here goes.

Duvall plays Felix, a strange old man who plans his own funeral, but not because he's knocking on death's door. According to the official synopsis over at Cinematical, "Felix has been nearly swallowed up by the power of his town's sinister myths about him – until he finds the courage on his own 'funeral day' to make a shocking confession about why he turned away from society."

OK. So we've got that now. Sounds original, which is a good start. Duvall and Murray don't hurt, and neither does Sissy Spacek. She's not in this clip, which kinds of sets up the action in the movie, but Lucas Black is. Not that he's in Spacek's league or anything.

So why are we looking at all of this now? Because Get Low will play at the Toronto International Film Festival, which as you probably know, begins in just a matter of days. After that? We'll let you know when we know.

Saw the world premiere last night in Toronto. Duvall's performance should win him an Oscar, if there is a God and even if there isn't. Murray, Spacek, Black and Bill Cobb are all wonderful too. Script is first class and the film is beautiful to watch, all misty and candle-lit. As Cameron Bailey, the TIFF co-director who introduced the film and its principals said, it's like watching a piece of music. One of the best so far of one of the best TIFF's in years.
