Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 4:31PM 'Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day' Red Band Trailer
We talked to Clifton Collins, Jr. recently (an interview you can listen to here) about his many 2009 projects, among them Star Trek and this week's Extract. I suspect, though, that a lot of people are most interested in Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, the sequel to...well, you know. How weird is it, by the way, that the first Boodock Saints was a Saturday night movie on my local CBS affiliate following the pre-season football game?

It's been over a decade since Troy Duffy made the first film, elevating him to a kind of mini-Tarantino status, almost all of which is based on DVD sales; the movie didn't do any business theatrically. But home video is a huge component now, so for literally ten years, there has been a lot of insistence on a sequel.
According to Anne Thompson at IndieWire's Thompson on Hollywood, Duffy's new film will open on October 30th, which is about as close to All Saints Day as you can get, and here's the first Red Band trailer, courtesy of IGN:
I'm curious to hear everyone's thoughts on this one, so let's have it.

I fell in love with the first one the moment I saw it, and I'm interested to see how this plays out. I like Connelly as a comic and an actor, so I root for the guy to get good roles. I hope it goes well after all of this wait.
I too fell in love with the original and root for Connelly. This preview brought a smile to my face...I'm looking forward to it. I'm surprised that it's coming out so soon, though. You do mean Oct 30, 2009, right Colin? I've heard the movie was in the works, but had no idea it was barreling down on us like that.
It's been done for a while, and the plan was always the end of October, but it never had a distributor until, well, now.
won't do the first justice i'm afraid.
It will be like the first one it wont make its real money until dvd. That being said count me in at midnight.
Meh....I didn't like the first one. It tried too hard...and fell too short. There's a difference between quirky and stupid. The first one, IMO was just stupid.
I enjoyed the first one but the main reason I liked it was 'cause of Willem Dafoe, so his not being in this one worries me (and the shot in the trailer insinuating that a female FBI agent will be doing her best to impersonate Willem Dafoe's character leads me to believe that they're going to try and repeat the first movie too much). I'll still check this one out in the theaters, but my expectations aren't high.
On a side note, despite the fact that Troy Duffy by all accounts is a major ass I'm glad that he finally got someone to back this movie.
I approve of all I have seen.
