Monday, September 21, 2009 at 7:50AM 'Avatar' Pops Up in Japanese Panasonic Commercial
I'm not sure the sneak peeks at Avatar did James Cameron any favors. I
liked the trailer more than most people, although I'd remind anyone who saw it that the movie is
in 3-D, so the trailer's not the best example of what we're in for. And the Avatar Day
screenings the following day, which allowed people to watch about 15 minutes of the movie in IMAX,
did good business but also got so-so reviews.

Now we have about three months before the movie comes out, and I don't really know where it can go
from here. If it's the look of the film - and in particular, the alien race - that troubles
potential fans, another trailer probably won't help. Unfortunately, that's a big part of what
Cameron is selling.
Speaking of selling...Avatar is now featured in a new Japanese commerical for Panasonic. This ties into Cameron and Panasonic pushing a new line of 3-D TVs that are supposed to hit the US market next year. Maybe this sort of thing the director and the film can build on in the next few months.

I don't get the sense that there's as much heat on this one right now. Perhaps that can be reignited in December when it really matters.

I agree Colin, I liked the trailer much more than most...
I still am rooting for it to "change cinema" as people are saying, and hoping millions will see it.. because Cameron no matter what people think of him or that actors dont really get along with him, is a genius and quite a talent....
The world he created from what I can tell, attracts me and I want to explore it soo there ya go....Avatar HATERS! lol
Saw the trailer in 3D tonight before "Cloudy with a chance of meatballs" The 3D looks better than most of the 3D movies i've seen recently. Not sure what that means for it but i will be there opening day
