Monday, September 21, 2009 at 9:21AM Blu-ray Artwork, Details for 'Léon: The Professional'
From what I can gather, the new Blu-ray for Léon: The Professional doesn't offer a whole lot other than the chance to own the movie in the latest format. For some, that will be plenty, however. Sony will release it on November 17th, and the film - which was released under both Léon and The Professional depending on where you lived back in the early 1990s - will retail for $24.95.

DVD Active reports that we'll get theatrical and uncut versions of the movie, plus three featurettes, one about Natalie Portman, one about Jean Reno, and a ten-year retrospective, which is already a little dated. I have the original, bare bones DVD, so I'll likely do the upgrade, but someone who has a more recent version might know if these bonus features are already out there. I get the sense that they probably are, though.
Either way, it's coming out the day before the film's 15th anniversary in the US, and it's one of those films that earned a huge reputation immediately and only saw it grow from there. Not that you can always take much away from IMDB rankings, but it's currently listed at #34 in the top 250. When you look at the more recent films above it on that list, you realize it's in pretty good company.
