Monday, September 21, 2009 at 10:01PM Coens Not Accepting Jesus for 'Lebowski' Spin-Off
If John Turturro is willing to come back for a second Transformers movie, it's no surprise that he wants another crack at Jesus, the iconic and morally questionable bowler from The Big Lebowski. And as it happens, Turturro has brought up such a sequel several times over the years.

Joel and Ethan Coen, two guys who would have to be involved at some point, have downplayed all talk of a spin-off. Almost. Talking to MTV, Ethan (the smaller, shorter-haired Coen) said, "We don't see it yet."
"That movie has more of an enduring fascination for other people than it does for us," contributed older brother Joel.
The film has gained a huge cult following over the past decade, but I wonder if we don't just love the movie so much that a follow-up - especially one focused on a character we really didn't get enough of - seems like the best idea ever. I'm sure it's fun to spitball, but can you really give a guy that unlikable his own movie? Well, these are the Coens we're talking about, so if the mood strikes them, I sure they could come up with something.
But not yet.

Sounds like the Coens have gotten as far as they have by just making the movies they want to make. A forced sequel won't do anybody any good.
Although I would love to see a Lebowski sequel, the Jesus only works as a side character. So the Coens are wrong in not making a Lebowski sequel but right in not making a Jesus spin-off.
