New 'Percy Jackson & The Olympians' Trailer
Monday, September 21, 2009 at 12:47PM
Win or lose, Percy Jackson can always use the pick-up line, "I'm the son of Poseidon," and there's probably something to be said for that. Before we get to that point in his life, though, Percy (Logan Lerman) must return Zeus' stolen lightning bolt and prevent a civil war among the gods.

Fox is trying to launch its own Potter-esque franchise based on the Percy Jackson & The Olympians series by Rick Riordan, and there will soon be a lot of competition in that department. Although The Golden Compass and Lemony Snicket appear mostly dead, Eragon and Spiderwick Chronicles didn't take off with audiences, and Narnia hit some speed bumps, we've still got Twilight, which skews a tad older, and the upcoming Vampire's Assistant, so we could be in a real renaissance of young adult adaptations.
Here's the second trailer for Percy Jackson, the first to feature some of the Olympians:

I can't make up my mind about the release date for Percy Jackson. Fox currently has it scheduled for February 12th, which at least gives it a three-day holiday weekend for schoolkids. But this is the kind of thing we'd normally see deep into the summer or in November or December. Could be exactly the right move, though, just for that reason.

I don't think that titles long enough. They should add some more nouns
