Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 2:04AM Harrowing '[REC] 2' Trailer, Now with English Subtitles
The Spanish horror flick [REC] was remade here in the states as Quarantine. From all accounts, the US version is inferior. Now we're getting close to the sequel, [REC] 2, which already played Fantastic Fest in Austin, and has a bunch of international engagements between now and the end of the year.

We will remain hopeful that this one makes it to US shores, which is something its predecessor couldn't say, because it looks pretty terrifying. Writers-directors Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza are back in those roles, which should be a good sign for fans of the original and the horror genre in general.
Now, we have shared a tiny little teaser and a longer trailer for [REC] 2 before, but his one, courtesy of Bloody Disgusting, has English subtitles. Of course, I don't know that you need them, as you'll soon see. Oh, and there's a chance you'll have to sit through an ad on the front end of this trailer. Sorry.

I'm praying that this gets to come to the United States for at least a limited release. I would travel (like I did for Let The Right One In) just to see it. I got to see [REC] before they announced an american remake. I was really disappointed. I could never understand why these U.S. production companies insist on doing these bullshit shot for shot remakes, when its fine in the first place.
Fear of subtitles?
Lets just hope that they don't decide to pull that crap again with [REC]2. Even though, most people here in the U.S. don't know much about the original, just like when The Ring came out, no one knew it was a japanese flick =P
Plus they pretty much doomed this amazing film from the start by branding it with the name Quarantine, and changing the base of the plot from possession to infection.
I hate Hollywood =/
