Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 1:40AM Geoffrey Says 'Pirates 4' Will Shoot Next Spring
We're getting a lot of mixed messages on Pirates of the Caribbean. The
fourth movie was officially announced, with Johnny Depp leading the parade at Disney's D23 Expo
earlier in the month when the new title was revealed - Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger
Tides.

But then it got murky. Disney chairman Dick Cook was unexpectedly removed, leaving Depp to say he
was less than enthusiastic about returning as Captain Jack Sparrow. And now, Geoffrey Rush - the
only other original cast member confirmed for the new chapter - says the film will be shot next
spring.
"They're waiting for the screenplay writers to put together something that's beyond the trilogy,
take it off into a new direction so that it's fresh and hopefully really interesting for an
audience," Rush tells MTV. "(T)hey're not going to just sausage-machine out something else, which
wouldn't be so good."
But even Rush might be sending mixed messages. Turns out he didn't even know the name of the movie, meaning you probably heard it before the top supporting actor in the film. And with Depp's recent fence-riding, which is completely justified in the days following a sea change like the one at Disney, who knows if this will go forward next year or not.
I would highly doubt Disney would move forward without a very happy Depp, and there are a lot of islands left in the world where he can vacation.

If you read the first line in the MTV interview you will note that it clearly reflects that the interview took place BEFORE the news about Cook's departure. Not one single website caught that. Amazing.
