There's Already Talk of a 'Zombieland' Sequel

I saw Zombieland tonight. Loved it, by the way. But could they really do a sequel?

Well, as we know, there never needs to be a compelling reason to embark on a sequel, even though there should be. Don't get me wrong, because Zombieland is damned entertaining, but I really think this movie is great the way it is and it couldn't work on the same terms if they did a sequel.

But that didn't stop director Ruben Fleischer and stars Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg from talking about it at the junket, and Cinema Blend provides us the quotes.

"I love the possibility that there might be another movie," rookie director Fleischer admitted. "It would be fun to see what these guys get up to next." Eisenberg also thought it sounded like a good idea, but he was pretty sarcastic with his answer, adding, "Ruben's filming Avatar right now, so I don't think we can get him back."

Leave it to the reliable old hand Woody Harrelson to bring a leveling infleunce to the discussion. "I think one key thing for when they want to do a sequel is that the movie is successful," said Harrelson. "Since this once hasn't even opened, I don't think they're going to talk about sequel yet."

Ah, but here's the catch: Zombieland should do really well this weekend and beyond. So by the Woodman's logic, we're going to get a sequel. And that wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, but other than just doing 90 more minutes of zombie killing, I don't see it.

But please don't let that opinion deter you from seeing the movie when it comes out this weekend. It's like a cross between Woody Allen, that Toby Keith boot-in-yer-ass song, and zombies. With the best cameo of the year.

I highly disagree with people saying this movie was likable, after watching it I couldn't help but think is that it?

This happened to be the worst Zombie movie I had seen, it was not clever in any way. You could not call it a comedy either as it was not the least bit funny.

The most over hyped and over rated film I have ever seen, absolutely awful.

I suggest watching Shaun of the dead or 21 days/weeks later as they have had more thought put into them. Not a movie just made because they feel like making a Zombie movie, this was garbage 3/10. You will see what I mean.

Zombieland was hilarious from beginning to end, they held nothing back on blood and gore, they held nothing back in actual issues with the still living (people taking advantage, no trust, conning each other, pretending to be dead and wearing makup), it was all very original, spontaneous, and true to the life of the situation. The only things you would really worry about in a Zombie infested world is keeping your sense of Humor, eating candy whenever you want, staying alive, playing a live action video game with endless weapon supplies, and occasionally finding some people to talk to to keep your sanity.

Krisando, I agree that Shaun of the Dead was funny also, and It's '28' Days Later (it was awesome, one of the best independent films)

But 28 'Weeks' Later, was the most god-awful spinoff, over produced and over-hyped by the company that bought the project from Writer/Director Danny Boyle and destroyed it. Zombieland was way better than the crappy 28 weeks later, don't ever mention that movie again, it should disappear into a vault and pretend it never happened.

I just saw this movie today and loved it. It was an awesome ride and damn hilarious. Woody Harrelson kicked butt in this movie.... I walked out of the theater really hoping that they do a sequel. In response to the first comment; I saw all of the movies you have listed and still think this one is as good as any of those... This movie was not supposed to be a scary movie at all... and I loved the part where they are in Bill Murrays house; Bill was great.

I believe Zombieland is up there with the other zombie movies... all the movies listed above plus Dawn of the dead, and 28 Days also, this movie i reckon was even better than these 4 that were listed (including the 28 weeks/ shaun of the dead), i would love to see a sequal to this, but i don't want them to ruin it though by making it crap ha.... i really enjoyed it, and i saw it a week ago.. and am still thinking about it haha :):) whoever wrote that first comment saying that was the worst zombie movie ever seen.. should probably be shot.... ive seen on ratings and this movie at lowest was a 8/10 on websites.... i loved it 11/10 :):).. my mates loved it... you guys keep going :):)

This is probably one of the best zombie movies made. Right up there with Shaun of the Dead. Funny, scary, clever. I could watch it time and time again.

Argh, people who say they didn't like Zombieland either: A) Have not seen the movie, B) Do not like Zombie movies, or C) Are dumb enough to think 28 weeks later was half as good as 28 days later which was half as good as Dawn of the Dead, which is shadowed by Shaun of the Dead which is decent, but not as great as Zombieland!
