'Star Trek' Returns to IMAX This Weekend

If you're looking for something old to do this weekend, check out Star Trek at your friendly neighborhood IMAX theater. One of the best movies of the summer as well as one of the biggest, Trek will play in IMAX (or at IMAX) for two weeks. It's a good weekend for such an event, because the summer event movies are over and unless you count Gamer, there's not much in the way of audience-siphoning going on here, especially since we're only talking about 85 IMAX screens. But if you're like me and you've already seen this a couple of times, it might be cool to check it out in this format. Speaking of the format, Trek played in IMAX earlier this summer, and it goes without saying that no matter where else you saw it, this presentation will almost certainly look and sound better. Last year, in an effort to keep The Dark Knight pushing towards box office records, I often recommended a return engagement for the film in IMAX, which it eventually received...two months after the DVD came out. What sense did that make? This one jumps the DVD release by a couple months and I'm sure it'll do a little bit of business over the next few days, not that it needs to at this point.
