Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 7:32PM Timberlake Rumored for Fincher' s 'Social Network'
The Facebook movie, otherwise known as The Social Network looks like it's starting to heat up. Then again, when Aaron Sorkin writes a script for David Fincher, you don't need to fan the flames very much.

The latest development is the casting. According to Carson Reeves of Scriptshadow, we're looking at Jesse Eisenberg (Adventureland, Zombieland...A-Z land, wow, that's coincidental) as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and some guy named Timberlake is rumored for Napster's Sean Parker.
We'll wait to see if it's true, but the most exciting prospect here is Timberlake. I haven't made up my mind yet if he's an actor, but he's damn sure a performer, and that can go a long way toward the other. He's shown signs, but most of the movies he's been in have been fairly to wildly inconsistent. So, it's tough to blame him for any of it, but it still doesn't give us much to go on.
The story is just what you think it is: How motivated twentysomethings sat in dorm rooms and created the world's most powerful tool for social interaction. Sorkin brings an instant credibility to this and Fincher, obviously, ups the ante a little bit. The film needs to hurry up and get into production, given Fincher's notoriously methodical shooting regimen, because the hope is to have it in theaters next year.
Granted, this isn't the scope of most of Fincher's work, so he may be able to do it rather quickly. A lot of that depends on Sorkin's script, based on the Ben Mezrich book, The Accidental Billionaires, and the odds are he'll deliver a good one.

I have only seen Justin Timberlake in Alpha Dog, so if one can judge an actor based on one role, I would say he is more than capable of a good performance given the right role and direction.
