Sunday, September 6, 2009 at 12:40AM Hello, Cleveland: UK 'Spinal Tap: Up to 11' Blu-ray
I had no idea this was immenent: A new DVD and Blu-ray version of This is Spinal Tap is headed to stores next week. Seriously, how did I not know about this? It's the appropriately named Up to 11 edition, and you can get it starting Monday the 7th instead of the traditional Tuesday release.

Here's what you can get: Five discs, including the re-mastered film, a 25th anniversary documentary featuring Ricky Gervais, Eddie Izzard, and more, the Return of Spinal Tap concert at Royal Albert Hall, Stonehenge interviews with Nigel Tufnel produced by National Geographic, tons of unused video features and outtakes, the soundtrack, and more.
Certainly, this is just for the collectors. The DVD/Blu-ray has been done several times for Tap over the years, so if you already have a recent version, all you'd be getting is filler, even if it is good filler.
Here's one quirk: This is apparently a UK-only release, at least for the time being. It's available on Amazon UK but not flag-waving, apple pie Amazon.com. Curious, isn't it? The most recent US Blu-ray is only a one-disc deal. But across the pond, they not only get the Up to 11 edition but a Marshall Amps installment, as well. As if it's not enough that you can look at boobies in their newspapers.
