Monday, September 7, 2009 at 9:58PM Bad Ass Clip from James McTeigue's 'Ninja Assassin'
Your late local news would flip to have this kind of footage: "Channel 7 was the only station on the scene downtown tonight when an all-out ninja battle broke out, disrupting traffic for several minutes..."

In a very cool clip from James McTeigue's Ninja Assassin that we caught over at MTV, Rain (that's the actor's full name) is on the run from a pack of ninja warriors. True to form, they've dressed the part, I guess so you can tell which ones are which. But in a footrace against traffic, the hero has to fight not just the world's best fighting machines but also a gauntlet of drivers. It's like Frogger with swords.
There's a lot that can go wrong with a scene like this - too much, too little, too silly - but McTeigue seems to find just the right notes here. I'm kind of impressed. Take a look:
Now, if we can get 100 minutes of that kind of action, I'm all about Ninja Assassin. It comes out November 25th, which is a real show of support by Warners, don't you think?
