Rampage Jackson Confirmed as Baracus in 'A-Team'

A couple of weeks ago, we reported that Quinton "Rampage" Jackson was going to be the new B.A. Baracus in the A-Team movie. Of course, that's the Mr. T role, so I was surprised that the story didn't gain much traction. Perhaps people thought it was another in the long line of rumors about the film and simply chose to wait until there was some confirmation. Now, the Vancouver Sun reports that Jackson is in British Columbia to film the movie, and that because of the shooting schedule, the MMA fighter has had to drop out of the upcoming UFC 107 pay-per-view event, at which he was to take on Sugar Rashad Evans. That's not a move that goes over very well with fans, and it's even less popular with outspoken UFC boss Dada White, who told an Oregon newspaper a few weeks ago that he "hated it" when his athletes start moonlighting in front of cameras. "Guess what Rashad Evans is thinking about right now,” White told the paper. “He’s thinking about beating your fucking ass. He’s not sitting around thinking about how him and his mom used to watch the fucking Love Boat together and he wants to get the role of Isaac the bartender.” It's actually he and his mom, Mr. White. You wouldn't say, "He's not sitting around thinking about how him used to watch the fucking Love Boat," would you? Of course not. So now, supposing the Sun is correct and Jackson is shooting the film in Vancouver for six weeks, he'll join Liam Neeson and Bradley Cooper in the cast, with "Howling Mad" Murdock still to be determined. Obviously, that's got to happen pretty soon. I voted Johnny Knoxville, others said Woody Harrelson, who would be a bit too old for the updated characters, who are now Gulf War vets. Probably someone in their mid-30s, maybe 40 at the oldest. Harrelson is 48, so it's a bit of a push even though he'd do a great job if age doesn't matter. And maybe it won't; maybe they'll have him as a former officer like Liam Neeson. But I still think this goes to a younger guy. Joe Carnahan is directing The A-Team, and it is scheduled to hit theaters in mid-June.
