Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 5:31AM This is the Poster for Michael Jackson's 'This is It'
This October, the Michael Jackson concert rehearsal documentary, This Is It, will play a limited engagement in theaters. You'll have two weeks to see it and then - at least this is my prediction - it will be on DVD the day after Thanksgiving. Or maybe even the day before Thanksgiving, now that they have those ridiculous pre-sale sales to start that most obscenely commercial time of the year.

As you probably know, the movie can't be a concert film, because Jackson passed away prior to any of his shows at London's 02 Arena. Instead, it's just hours and hours and hours of rehearsal footage condensed into 90 minutes or so. Say what you will about Michael Jackson, that dude was a born performer, simply one of the best that we've ever seen. So to me, the rehearsal footage and watching Jackson plan the concert will probably be more instructive than if this were just another two-hour musical trip down memory lane.
The new poster for This Is It has been released on Yahoo! (by way of IMP Awards), and there's not much else to say, really. I mean, it's a Michael Jackson movie, so the poster reflects that pretty well.

The last and so far only documentary to open at number one was Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11. I think it'll have some company when this arrives in theaters on October 28th.

P Diddy had very precisely described the genius of Michael Jackson: "He showed that you can actually see the beat. He made the music come to life. He made me believe in magic."
Here I've tried to collect all notable tributes paid to Michael Jackson by peers:
