Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 4:49PM Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts Reteam for 'Larry Crowne'
Almost a decade and a half after Tom Hanks directed That Thing You Do, he'll step back behind the camera for a new comedy he's written. Empire says the movie is titled Larry Crowne, "a man who is forced to reinvent himself and find a new career as he figures out middle age."

Unlike That Thing You Do, which featured Hanks in a glorified walk-on, he is Larry Crowne in this film, so Hanks becomes a big quadruple threat here; I'm guessing his Playtone production shingle will work on this, though the Empire article doesn't mention the company either way.
Hanks will team on-screen with Julia Roberts, his Charlie Wilson's War co-star. It's been a long time since Roberts has really given a performance worth seeing, Golden Globe nomination for Duplicity or not. I don't think Valentine's Day will be one for the scrapbook, and I'd go all the way back to Closer in 2004 to find a truly good role for her. A bit overshadowed by Natalie Portman, but that entire cast was locked in.
Larry Crowne has no studio and no release schedule, though it will shoot in April out in Los Angeles. It's odd to see Hanks and Roberts, the two most bankable stars of the 1990s, working on what will probably wind up being a fairly small picture without much box office pull. But it beats doing AT&T commercials, I guess.

It is odd, but perhaps it is extremely well written & Hanks over the course of career has a niche of finding or getting pretty well written scripts...
Why Julia Roberts, ugh I'm just not a fan of her, her & Kate Hudson need to go away permanently
Whose doing at&t commercials, it cant be Hanks can it...I love Tom Hanks!
