Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 3:42AM Stupid, Addictive Twitter Game: #moviemashups
I spent about half an hour last night on Twitter trying to play a game that was spinning wildly out of control called #moviemashups. The way it works is you combine two movie titles, and I like bookending them so the last word of one title is the first word of another, as in Up in the Air Up There, which would be a story about George Clooney, corporate downsizer, flying a house balloon off course, landing in Africa, where he has to coach a basketball team.

You don't need to add the story, but obviously, it runs through your mind; that's part of the fun. Now, some Tweeters were breaking the rules as far as I'm concerned, fudging the names a little bit too much or just stacking titles together like The Book of Eli Legion, which makes no sense at all. Unless I'm missing some connection, Dude, Where's My Field of Dreams doesn't cut it.
So here are some of mine from last night, a couple of which I'm real proud of. Please add your own and let's see what we can come up with.

Wow, I love that you did this. This is my favorite of yours, Colin ---> The Basketball Diary of Anne Frank. Although The Unbearable Lightness of Being John Malkovich was epic. I can't think of any good ones but here are mine anyways.
No Country For Grumpy Old Men
Eternal Sunshine Cleaning
Charlie Wilson's War of the Worlds
Chicken Run Lola Run OR Run Chicken Run
The Mission Impossible
Leprechaun 6: Back to Robin's Hood
Gone Baby Gone in 60 Seconds
Big Momma's House of Sound and Fog
I Am Legend of Billie Jean
Okay I'm done. For now. =)
Porky Pig stars in They Shoot Horses Don't They Shoot Horses Don't They?
Cop and a Half Baked
Wicker Man on Wire or I Love You, Man on Fire
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood (although, technically that is cheating a little as I understand the rules).
This is fun...
Although not technically within the "rules", I am reminded of two actual movie theater marquees I saw many years ago. This was back when the signs outside theaters would have man made letters hung to spell out the movies. First, back in 1979:
Alien
Meatballs
Escape From Alcatraz
Then, in 1992:
Stop or My Mom Will Shoot
J.F.K.
I'm thinking there is no way they could have not done that on purpose...
Sweet list and comments thread! (Though, I have to admit, I kind of like "Dude, Where's My Field of Dreams"...)
How about:
My Big Fat Greek Wedding Date
Twilight: New Man on the Moon
A Room With a View to a Kill
The Remains of the Day After Tomorrow
