Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 1:18AM Anne Hathaway To Reveal 2010 Oscar Nominees
Anne Hathaway has been picked to announce the Oscar nominees on February 2nd. So if Bride Wars winds up getting some nominations, that will be really awkward for everybody.

Hathaway, a Best Actress hopeful last year for Rachel Getting Married, will stand at the podium with academy president Tom Sherak a week from yesterday at about 5:30am to read this year's nominees in the 10 major categories. The other 14 will come later, without the Princess of Genovia's official decree.
I'm really only bringing this up to serve as a reminder that the nominations are less than a week away. We know probably seven or eight of the ten Best Picture nominees, but there are always small surprises here and there. I'm still betting that Invictus will be left out in the cold for the most part, and if it's not nominated (and we know Nine will get stiffed), then that opens the door for something like District 9 or Star Trek - both Producers Guild nominees.
Another possibility in that category is the dark horse pick, The Blind Side. With Sandra Bullock now with a decent chance to win Best Actress, there could be plenty of support for the film in general. And there's another reason the ten nominees may not be the best way to run the Best Picture race.
We'll report the nominees as soon as they're announced, predict them this weekend (so check back then to get your own picks in), and just like last year, we'll blog live during the telecast.

I still can believe there is 10 best pic nominees, its just ridiculous...
Anne sooo wants me with that look lol
I hope you're right that District 9 and Star Trek will receive Best Picture nominations.
Sorry but Star Trek does not deserve best pic nomination, I would say its more like a top 15 film this year. I think I liked pandorum after seeing it for a second time better than Star Trek just by a little. I still think Star Trek is a better film but I enjoyed Pandorum a bit more because it was fresh and did not use cheesy time travel to restart a franchise if that makes any sense.
Star Trek was a good popcorn flick and it was fun but just something didn't seem right to me in it.
District 9 deserves a BP nomination, especially if a film as shallow as Avatar gets nominated.
