Friday, January 29, 2010 at 2:22PM Two New Commercials for 'The Crazies'
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the advertising for The Crazies has been uniformly good over the past couple of months. It doesn't have me bolting out of my chair or anything, but for a genre picture - particularly this genre - they're making the right choices.

As you probably know, it's a George Romero remake, but without the instant name recognition of Dawn of the Dead. However, it looks like that's the plan of attack director Breck Eisner is using for The Crazies as well, and why not? He'll be extremely fortunate if this movie turns out as well as Zack Snyder's Dawn. And, you know, just because it's a remake doesn't mean he has to completely go against the grain. There should be some effort made to keep what works and find a way to tell that story to a fresh audience. So far, based on the trailers and clips and commercials, I think they've achieved that.
Again, I don't have the kind of reaction to it that makes me want to drop what I'm doing and order tickets, but if my choices were this or Halloween 2...sorry, Rob Zombie.
