Friday, January 8, 2010 at 12:44PM First Trailer for 'The A-Team'
We'll get a higher resolution version of this soon, but in the meantime, here's the first trailer for The A-Team, which comes to us from Trailer Spy.

I didn't give a whole lot of thought to how it might look, but they used the standard TV show open with the narration about the elite unit convicted of a crime they didn't commit. And now that I've seen it, how could they not use that? It's too early to tell about the movie, but the trailer is maximizing its Bradley Cooper time. In the series, Faceman was no better than third on the depth chart, but here, Cooper is in more shots than anyone, I think. Maybe it's a tie with Quinton "Rampage" Jackson as B.A. Baracus, though.
It looks like it has plenty of action, which stands to reason, and there appears to be some comedic stuff, too. Maybe that'll work, but I was hoping for a straighter, grittier ride from the movie update. Lo-res on three...Lo-res!
The A-Team opens on June 11th. Cooper did OK in June this past year, and with Liam Neeson's Taken playing exceptionally well on DVD/In Demand and District 9's potential Oscar hopes keeping Sharlto Copley on the radar, this one could actually soar for a few weeks.

And it's gone.
So maybe it just didn't work for you, Josh because I saw the full thing just a few seconds ago.
Um, it doesn't look completely horrible, but it also looks like it takes itself far too seriously. I always never liked TV to movie adaptations that did that, especially when the show didn't really deserve the reverence (I'm looking at you "Miami Vice").
Also, I thought it was funny that you downplayed Bradley Cooper and Liam Neeson's success in the past year. That made me chuckled.
Actually, I thought "Miami Vice" was the best "experiment" in adapting a "three-network era" tv show into a movie. Mann played it like a two-hour episode of the show if they made it NOW.
I was hoping they would go with a little more realistic, grittier take on the A-Team premise too. It's possible that could come accross from the whole movie as it unspools. This trailer makes me wonder why they haven't tried to do this before now. It looks like great action formula. Neeson's really surprising as Hannibal. This could be a summer surprise.
Man, this sucked.
