Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 4:22PM Trailer for 'Piranha 3-D' Leaked Online
There sure is something in the water, and thanks to this extremely low resolution trailer that made its way onto YouTube, you can almost make out what it is. The remake of the very schlocky Piranha, updated to be Piranha 3-D opens this April, and I'm kind of surprised we've had to wait this long to see something. Hopefully there will be more on the way.

The remake comes from director Alexandre Aja, who I think is probably the most individually gifted member of The Splat Pack. He shows a real visual understanding of the medium...and then covers it in blood. He's done the remake thing before, with The Hills Have Eyes, and Piranha really had nowhere to go but up, so he's a good choice for the material.
I had forgotten that Richard Dreyfuss was in this. Dignity, above all else. You'll see him in a boat at one point...
Piranha opens on a very busy weekend, opposite Kick-Ass (option A), plus Death at a Funeral and MacGruber (not option A).

If it's successful I wonder if they can convince Cameron to make a sequel.
Aja really knows how to remake stuff. His Hills Have Eyes was a great movie.
